Municipal Solid Waste is Delivered to a Green Choice Bio-Recovery Center
Municipal solid waste is delivered to a Green Choice Bio-Recovery Center by waste haulers using collection trucks (8-9 ton capacity) and/or long-haul transfer trailers (30-35 ton capacity).
Transportation and processing of municipal solid waste is measured in tons, with capacity and throughput measured in Tons per Day (“TPD”). This flow of solid waste is commonly referred to as a “waste stream”.

- Solid waste is received at the plant and is weighed and recorded.
- Waste receipts are consolidated daily to determine the total tonnage delivered to the plant.
- Reports are generated to determine the amount of solid waste received from various sources or locations such as townships, cities, county, private companies, waste haulers or waste authority.
- Tonnage reports are reviewed quarterly to determine the revenue share for the hosting community or waste authority.
Revenue sharing through a “Host Agreement” with one or more municipalities is a key tool used to secure a long term waste supply since it offers a direct financial benefit to the local community. This provides an incentive to bind the existing and future supply of waste from that community, typically for a period of at least ten years. The securing of the waste stream ensures the long-term viability of the Green Choice facility.
